Pastoral Support @ Henlow

At Henlow Academy the welfare of our students is at the heart of all we do. We offer a range of support to our students through onsite staff and external agencies.

We offer students a range of support. These include:

1:1 support to:
  • Develop confidence and self esteem
  • To build resilience
  • Learn coping strategies for anxiety or anger
  • Have opportunity to talk through issues and concerns
  • Provide reports and tools for the pupil to independently advance their new skills
  • Provide a 'listening ear'

Group work:
  • For friends to work together to solve friendship issues including Restorative Justice
  • Peer work for older pupils to support younger pupils

We also liaise with other agencies and individuals to whom we can make referrals to further support pupils or families including School Nurse, CHUMs and Early Help Assessment.

A referral might be made to our pastoral team for a range of reasons including supporting a student with:
  • Self esteem & confidence building
  • Resilience
  • Friendship issues
  • Anxiety
  • Anger
  • Coping skills
